For the first blog assignment, i determined to share the painting by sofonisba Anguissola which is entitled “The double portrait of a lady and her dog” The painting was performed on a oil on canvas which has no correlated date. This painting is symbolic in nature due to the status symbol of women in the reassiance movement. The painting shows a women which her child and the child’s dog. The painting shows the symbolic relationship with the women and her dog. The painting gives a warm feeling of stability which a women whom seems wealthy with a child whom is content which the family dog in place by the side of the young child. The artist used the shade of red to provoke the mood of a calm relaxing feeling that seems transitional to the artist and to the audience that the painting is projected towards. This painting is characteristic of some humanism traits which gives a emphasis on human reason, spirit, and physical beauty. The fundamental relationship between a child and her dog in contrast which the mother. An intense religiosity could be found in this painting that could extend into a religious informality which could be found. The painting could be symbolic due to the nature of the status of women. This painting shows a political standpoint that could have been critical to the evolution of female rights. Although the painting was not during the sack of Rome, the events or the war did have an influential expression to the artist whom felt the imprecations. The painting also depicts the styl of dress upon the women in royaltiy. The velet red in uniform with the room which shows wealth in context. A number of the earliest Mannerist artists who had been working in Rome during the 1520s fled the city after in 1530’s. This could also be in reference to the spread of the culture pass the cross-culture gender barriers that existed years before. This really gives a shade of color on the mannerisms in the Renaissance in regard to gender status. This is essential when looking at and anzalying how painters derive their ideas in regard to there societies that they live in and communicate with in the neighboring regions. I believe that this painting really captivates the emotion of the times in regard to a different gender prospective.
